Episode 20 - Don't Look Back In Anger
Saturday Aug 07, 2021
Saturday Aug 07, 2021
This week, we look back at a couple of things we already looked at once, to see if they got any better or worse since then. We're watching another episode of Little Shop, which is kind of about love? And we're watching another episode of Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling, which is about various forms of fitness. But most importantly, we both watched Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and we're here to tell you whether MotU is back in its POGest form, whether Kevin Smith made a mistake, and whether Stinkor is the best thing about it. All this while trying to keep Matsy from bringing us down with his apathy and tragedy. He's like the Orko of Animation Celery.
Cartoons in this episode: Little Shop, "I Loathe a Parade"; Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling, "Captain Lou's Crash Diet/Muscle Madness"

It's time to watch another movie, and stop me if you've heard this one, but it's about children who turn into wolves. This time, we're looking at the lovely Irish film Wolfwalkers! We'll discuss beautiful animation, make uneducated statements about British and Irish history, and recount the crazy hoops you have to go through to watch things on Apple's questionable video streaming service. We'll also talk about the He-Man Matsy should have watched but didn't, the He-Man Micah shouldn't have watched but did, and the little YouTuber who made good, Brad Neely. Also, I'm starting to think I should have titled Episode 13 "Dog Father." Hindsight is 20/20.

Episode 18 - That Guided Missile
Saturday Jul 24, 2021
Saturday Jul 24, 2021
Okay, we're going watch Woody Woodpecker get scammed by a crooked insurance salesman and become one himself, and we're going to watch a young Japanese superhero pick and choose which murders he cares about, and we're going to watch Mickey, Donald and Goofy clean a clock. But the most important thing is that your childhood's most menacing guided missile is in this episode! There are also some interesting stories about the Woody Woodpecker Song, and Donald being censored, and we'll also talk about some games both board and computer, and cover some unfinished business regarding The New Adventures of He-Man. But that missile!
Cartoons in this episode: "Wet Blanket Policy" "Chargeman Ken!: Dynamite in the Brain!" "Misguided Missile" "Clock Cleaners"

Did you know there was a sequel series to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in 1989? Well, don't bother looking into it, because we're here to tell you everything you need to know! We'll tell you about the blandest He-Man, the goofiest-yet-most-competent Skeletor, the most disobedient young boy, and Gepple's Goo. We'll also tell you everything you need to know about The Patrick Star Show, Amazon Prime Video's Rocky and Bullwinkle, and the baffling epic that is Mobile Suit Gundam. Actually, I don't think anyone can tell you everything about that...
Cartoons in this episode: The New Adventures of He-Man, "A New Beginning" "Quest for the Crystals" "The Heat" and "Attack on Onnor"

Episode 16 - The Animation Celery Christmas Special
Saturday Jul 10, 2021
Saturday Jul 10, 2021
Happy holidays, everyone! We're escaping from the vicious heat of the Northern Hemisphere July with a couple of wintery offerings. First, a look at the one and only animated version of comic superstars Opus and Bill, in which the little penguin that absolutely couldn't tries to get his fondest wish granted. Then we look at an obscure Japanese/Russian/Slovak fairy tale about literally all the months, the girl who endures them, and the queen who doesn't respect them. We'll also check on Wizards of the Coast crossing the uncrossable divide between MtG and DnD, the social justice ramifications of tabletop gaming, and also Tom and Jerry and more ALF Tales. This episode goes places.
Cartoons in this episode: "A Wish for Wings that Work"; "Twelve Months"

Episode 15 - POG Form
Friday Jul 02, 2021

Hey, why do these cartoons exist? We're back to look into it. Specifically, we're gonna look into Rude Dog and the Dweebs, and see if weird canines can sell surf- and skatewear. Or at least if they can figure out that cartoon dogs are not traditionally afraid of cats, or that cows are not traditionally goldfish. Then we'll look at ALF Tales, and an alternate reality where John Henry was a tomato carving Melmacian. That's literally what the cartoon is about. Also, Micah will update us on his journey through Star vs. the Forces of Evil and his fixation with March Comes In like a Lion, and Matsy checks in on the latest Adventure Times and what they mean for PB and Marceline's love and Finn and Jake's lives. One thing we know for sure, this podcast exists to entertain you!
Cartoons in this episode: Rude Dog and the Dweebs, "Hello, Mr. Kitty? / The Fish Who Went Moo"; ALF Tales, "John Henry"

Episode 14 - Canadian Content
Saturday Jun 26, 2021
Saturday Jun 26, 2021
Happy Canada Day, everybody! We're showing respect to our home and native land by looking at some of the many, many great animated shorts produced by the National Film Board of Canada this week. First, we'll examine a mere two of the tremendously funny cartoons by Richard Condie, namely The Apprentice and Getting Started. Can an idiot surmount the seemingly impossible obstacle of a single tree? Can another dude surmount the equally impossible obstacle of his own lack of motivation? Then we'll watch Claude Cloutier's modern take on classic fairy tales in Sleeping Betty, in which Betty sleeps and awaits Prince Charles... er, Charming. And finally, Zviane's lil cartoon Sweet Childhood shows us why you should NEVER listen to tapes you recorded 30 years ago. I wonder if this podcast will embarrass us in 2051.
Cartoons in this episode: "The Apprentice"; "Getting Started"; "Sleeping Betty"; "Sweet Childhood"

Episode 13 - A Goofy Podcast
Saturday Jun 19, 2021
Saturday Jun 19, 2021
Happy Father's Day to all the daddies out there! We're going to celebrate your time by watching a movie about the 1995 Father of the Year, Goofy! It's called A Goofy Movie, conveniently enough. Does a second-string Disney animated feature based on a cartoon steeped in the most tubular aesthetics of the 90's still hold up in 2021? The answer may surprise you. We'll also investigate Netflix's upcoming adaptations of Cuphead and Masters of the Universe, and take a real dive into the video game world with some chat about Tekken (by way of Super Smash Bros.) and Chicory: A Colorful Tale. Sadly, we didn't get around to discussing what the best Powerline album is. It's probably the one with that song.

Episode 12 - Inspecting Gadget
Saturday Jun 12, 2021
Saturday Jun 12, 2021
We two gumshoes are not going to let criminal slander of Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers go slipping through the cracks. This week, we take a random sample of episodes and subject them to tests and algorithms to determine once and for all the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything: is Rescue Rangers only good because of Gadget? We'll also examine how the Hays code protected early humans from barnyard nudity, what cute girls do when they go laid-back camping, and... The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, for some reason.
Cartoons in this episode: Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, "Does Pavlov Ring a Bell"; "The Case of the Cola Cult"; "Catteries Not Included"

Episode 11 - Popee-rri
Saturday Jun 05, 2021

This episode's got it all. For example, Matsy is given a Tom and Jerry short that reassures him that they aren't always as brutal as he thought, then follows it up with a cartoon in which a clown repeatedly stabs a wolf in the face. Meanwhile, Micah watches a mosquito stab someone in the face and drink their blood, and watches good ol' Mickey Mouse beat the music out of a selection of barnyard animals. Cartoons are violent, man. Also, some quick coverage of Fox's eight millionth animated series, Paramount Plus's stupendously lazy Rugrats do-over, one more glance at Amphibia and Twelve Forever, and Micah's official-yet-controversial ranking of Animaniacs. Listen now and find out whether the worst Animaniac is Katey Ka-Boom, Chicken Boo, or an unexpected new challenger.
Cartoons in this episode: "Duel Personality"; "How a Mosquito Operates"; "Popee the Performer: Knife Thrower"; "Steamboat Willie"
