Episode 60 - Only Happy When It Rains

Hi. It's been raining in Vancouver lately (when is it not?), so we decided to watch some cartoons about the rain. We'll watch a young parrot try to take after his seafaring father, only to be stymied by inclement weather. We'll watch a kid help a fox collect water for mysterious reasons. We'll watch the life cycle of the rain, as animated by the National Film Board of Canada. And we'll watch... a war story from China. Plus, Micah starts development on the official Animation Cel-ery platform fighter, and wait until you see who gets the special envelope. And Matsy dips his toe into Moral Orel, to see what the Christianest Christians think of zombie invasions. Good thing the bugs are on our side!

Episode 59 - Sports Day

We're talking about sports this week, and in doing so, we've stumbled upon two famous/infamous cartoons that everyone wants to talk about! First, we watch little ponies learn the best way to play Buckball in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. And then we watch the Mario Bros. participate in a dubious bike race in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show. Can you believe these two cartoons are in the same podcast? Plus, Matsy regales us with his Stanley Cup Playoff picks, while Micah catches us up on his watch-throughs of Ranking of Kings and... My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic! I get the feeling friendship might have some kind of powers.

Episode 58 - Staunch Opposition to Kicking Women

Time for some shorts! First, we'll watch the nearsighted Mr. Magoo entrusted with the care of baby Homer. Maybe this is what happened to Homer Simpson. Next, a few tales from the Wizard of Oz will show us how to deal with various stomach ailments. We'll check out the Pink Panther and Little Man as they invent the sport that will sweep the squid-kid world after the icecaps melt. And of course, we'll watch Olive Oyl learn to stand up for herself when a shocking turn of events leads to HER having to fight for Popeye! Episode 57 - It’s Laser Time!

It's about time we took at look at 1993's 3D pioneer of animation, The Bots Master. Watch Ziv Zulander (ZZ for short) try to take down the corp with his elite cadre of goofy Brain Operated Young Zygoetopic Zoids. And make sure you come equipped with a single sunglasses lens for Laser Time! Plus, we remember Gilbert Gottfried, talk a little more about Little Audrey, ponder various fringe tabletop RPG systems, consider whether D4s are worth anything, marvel at the many lives of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and come up with the next video game sensation. Episode 56 - What’s New is Old

Now for part 2, where we look at older versions of what we looked at last week! First, in Batman: The Animated Series, Batman investigates a clever new gang full of dummies... but which dummy is the brains of the operation? And then, in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Dorothy and Ozma make an unscheduled visit to the land of paper, where they investigate Miss Cuttenclip and Mr. Fuddle. Hey, both these cartoons have sentient wood products! Plus, Micah fulfills a listener request to investigate The Bobblehead Movie, while Matsy investigates potential cartoon versions of Punch-Out!! and Blackadder, and a realized cartoon version of Green Eggs and Ham. Episode 55 - What’s Old is New

Welcome to part 1 of our two-part extravaganza, in which we're looking at new takes on old ideas. First up is Batman: The Brave and the Bold, featuring Batman teaming up with obscure 70's DC hero Kamandi to save a post-apocalyptic future from Gorilla Grodd. Then, in Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz, our favorite gemstone footwear aficionado has to recover her dognapped pet and prove that she's a REAL Ozian. Plus, Matsy checks on season 2 of The Owl House to see if Luz and Amity do the thing, while Micah watches the last episode of Attack on Titan and gets ready for the next last season of Attack on Titan. For this week's cartoons, we examine the only theatrical short series Hanna Barbara ever produced, featuring nice-guy wolf Loopy de Loup trying to return a stolen baa-baa to a foul-mouthed sheepdog; we watch Little Audrey learn the consequences of being good with guns; we watch Duck Dodgers attempt colonization some four and a half centuries after it's gone out of vogue; and we watch a student film from Denmark that depicts either Centaurworld, Dark Souls, or maybe social anxiety. Plus, Micah checks on old cartoon Rose Petal Place to see if it's anything, and Matsy checks on the first season of Home Movies to see if that's anything. This week on Animation Celery, we're pitting two ostensibly similar shows against each other to see which is superior: C.O.P.S. or Bionic Six! The Central Organization of Police Specialists is going to face down not one but two weirdos who deal in bugs, and are going to thwart a criminal mastermind whose mother is already doing a fine job of thwarting him. Meanwhile, the Bionic Six are going to face down not one but three weirdos who want to... do crimes, I guess, and also look after an apocalyptic baby. Plus, Matsy checks out the second season of Jellystone!, while Micah considers local furniture celebrities and gets around to watching White Snake 2: Green Snake. Aye aye and goodbye!

Episode 52 - It’s Lady Lovely Lumps Herself

This show is for the ladies. Specifically the 80's ladies who were into proper 80's lady things, like elves and hair. First, we'll watch a confusingly named elf try to regain the special magic of herself, who is Herself, and her friends by spreading joy to a weird old Jerry Orbach. Then we'll watch Lady Lovely Locks overcome a villainess and her henchman who do a great job of threatening her with scissors, and a less great job of using them. Plus, Micah checks out Kid Cosmic for himself and gauges exactly how famous Frank Welker is, while Matsy lists off his top 5+ video games and insists that everyone play Hades. Now get in the 80's kitchen and make us 80's sandwiches!

It's time for Why Does This Exist? Part 2! We're going to watch Laverne and Shirley and a pig, along with Fonzie and his dog, who are in the army and go back in time for a caveman wedding. Yep. And then we'll watch child versions of the superstars of WWE hang out at summer camp and commit/solve eyebrow crimes. It's as baffling as it sounds. Plus, Matsy tries to talk about only good cartoons, succeeding in recommending Kid Cosmic before getting crushed under the weight of Human Resources and that Rescue Rangers trailer, while Micah helps us rank cartoon females and gets lost navigating Chinese White Snakes and Green Snakes.
