Episode 70 - Past and Future Blockheads
Saturday Jul 30, 2022
Saturday Jul 30, 2022
Let's think about the past. Let's think about the future. Let's watch Felix the Cat show us why prohibition was a good idea. Let's watch the 1938 world's fair show us the marvels of the future. Let's see what happens if a woodcarver carves a puppet son and no fairies show up. And let's see how those marvels of the future are working out for the illustrious Mr. Widdershins. Plus, Micah watches an apocalyptic future where there are bubbles in Bubble, and Matsy watches a future in which everybody has Google Glass in Yurei Deco. All this, and a bonus review of the first Goofy cartoon! Love-y!
Cartoons in this episode:
"Woos Whoopee"
"All's Fair at the Fair"
"Spinnolio"
"Widdershins"
BONUS! "Goofy and Wilbur"

Episode 69 - A Podcast Divided (Part 2)
Saturday Jul 23, 2022
Saturday Jul 23, 2022
It's time to finish what we started, by watching the second part of two-parters we started watching last week. Got it? First, the Decepticons have made cars, so what's an Autobot to do? Make planes, obviously, though it seems like airplane robots are naturally predisposed to being jerks. Hm. Then, we have to see how Bob and Mr. Fischoeder are making out after being held at gunpoint by Felix. Will the terrible Belchers be able to rescue the one competent member of their family? Plus, Matsy took a week to suffer through the one episode of the Battletoads cartoon that got made before someone (presumably) burned that whole animation studio down for their crimes, while Micah is here to report on tabletop RPG cartoon The Legend of Vox Machina, standing by with his own can of gasoline. AND it's the long-awaited conclusion of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic! How can you afford to miss that?
Cartoons in this episode:
The Transformers, "The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2"
Bob's Burgers, "World Wharf II (How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town)"

Episode 68 - A Podcast Divided (Part 1)
Saturday Jul 16, 2022
Saturday Jul 16, 2022
Oh no! Our innocent idea to review both parts of two-part episodes has caused dissention! Micah can't stand Bob's Burgers' crisis over whether to sell or not sell Wonder Wharf, while Matsy thinks it's one of the better episodes of an okay series. Fortunately, we can find common ground with The Transformers, though maybe Megatron's jealousy over the Autobots' ability to turn into cars while Decepticons can only be stupid planes is a bit dubious. Plus, Micah heads down the home stretch of My Little Pony, and we are divided once again on which adult cartoon about anthropomorphic animals' depression is better: BoJack Horseman, or Tuca & Bertie. Or Bertie & Tuca.
Cartoons in this episode:
Bob's Burgers, "Wharf Horse, Part 1 (How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town)"
The Transformers, "The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1"

Episode 67 - On Cowards
Saturday Jul 09, 2022
Saturday Jul 09, 2022
The theme is cowards this time, but don't be scared; there's some pretty good stuff in here! For example, the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon. You gotta check out what happens when a flippant DM sends a party of 2nd level adventurers to fight a beholder with only a Frank Welker terrified of everything and a flower to help them. And then there's Lost in Oz, which is a surprisingly good cyberpunk take on The Wizard of Oz? Man, cloaking technology is the best thing that could have happened to an Ozian lion. Plus, Micah describes his hopes and dreams and fursuiters and Fluttershy, while Matsy checks in on an Australian cartoon in which a fursuiter takes it too far. Step into our tavern and see which NPCs will reward you for taking on the quest to listen to our podcast!
Cartoons in this episode:
Dungeons & Dragons, "The Eye of the Beholder"
Lost in Oz, "Dorothy Meets the Lion"

Episode 66 - Thanks Obomsawin
Saturday Jul 02, 2022
Saturday Jul 02, 2022
It's Canada Day, and that means we're looking at cartoons from the National Film Board! We'll watch a Norwegian lady with a prestigious responsibility help bring down the Nazi regime. We'll watch a fisherman save two Haida from the wrath of a scorned orca. We'll watch a young girl bounce back and forth between Canada and France. And (unrelated) we'll watch France's economy crumble. Not a lot of Canada there, actually. Plus, Micah looks out for Kotaro, who is living alone, checks out more Tales of Alethrion, and considers Avatar (the 'benders one) heading to the big screen (not the M. Night Shyamalan one), along with the usual MLP, while Matsy thinks about YouTuber Berd, investigates Dead End: Paranormal Park, and scares us all with one word: Homestuck.
Cartoons in this episode:
"My Grandmother Ironed the King's Shirts"
"The Mountain of SGaana"
"Here and There"
"John Law and the Mississippi Bubble"

Episode 65 - Friendship is Something
Saturday Jun 25, 2022
Saturday Jun 25, 2022
It's just now, as I'm writing this, that I realize that these cartoons kind of have a theme of friendship and relationships. Don't they? You tell me. The first one is about a fox who makes friends with crows and inmates as he tries to find a better life at a fox fur farm. Then Foghorn Leghorn tries to make a friend with benefits - the main benefit being a decent home - but runs afoul (a-fowl) of a foundling chicken hawk. Third, two guys are stuck with each other thanks to a torn treasure map, and form a friendship for the ages in search of their reward. And finally, Droopy enlists his brother to help around the house, which plays havoc with his friend Spike. Plus, Matsy learns way too much about the lore of VTubers, while Micah keeps on catching up with My Little Pony, Kid Cosmic, and Don Hertzfeldt. And that's what's biting me.
Cartoons in this episode:
"Fox Pop"
"Strangled Eggs"
"Tales of Alethrion, Episode 3: The Reward"
"Droopy's Double Trouble"

Episode 64 - An Extremely Goofy Podcast
Saturday Jun 18, 2022
Saturday Jun 18, 2022
Happy Father's Day once again! And once again we dive into the Goof Troop extended universe with the straight-to-video finale, An Extremely Goofy Movie. Watch Max finally head to college to get away from his father and focus on what's really important - skateboards - only to find his father following along to embarrass him that much more. Gaze in wonder at the hot canine college girls, librarians and beatniks, and ponder whether they have ears, or even names. And... I guess that covers it, really. Plus, Micah watches an alternate version of Treasure Planet from Hungary, and gives us more MLP:FIM. And Matsy continues looking over the animated offerings from Netflix with Final Space and Adventure Beast; one is unbearable, the other unremarkable. Animation Cel-ery: Now with more Pauly Shore!
(PS: Sorry about the alarm going off in the background during the first part of this episode. There's not much we can do about things happening in the streets.)

Episode 63 - Dogs and Monsters
Saturday Jun 11, 2022
Saturday Jun 11, 2022
In this exciting post-COVID episode of Animation Celery, we're going to watch a couple of things with no unifying theme! First, we watch the alchemists at Filmation mix Dracula, the wolfman, Frankenstein's monster, Sabrina the teenage witch, and Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In together in their big cauldron and see what comedy gold comes out. Then, we'll watch what happens when you let 101 Dalmatians live in a house with no human supervision. Apparently they go seeking human supervision. Plus, Matsy gets started on his cartoon to-do list with Aggretsuko and Close Enough, while Micah continues his own list with more late-era My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Groovy!
Cartoons in this episode:
Groovy Goolies, "When I Grow Up"
101 Dalmatian Street, "Dog's Best Friend / Boom Night"

Episode 62 - The Bad Episode Episode
Saturday Jun 04, 2022
Saturday Jun 04, 2022
In the long-awaited sequel to our episode about our favorite episodes, here's our episode about our least favorite episodes! First, Micah watches the episode of Captain N: The Game Master that focuses on Mega Man, and has to endure Mega Man mega fan Matsy explaining everything that's wrong with it. Then, Matsy watches an episode of Tiny Toon Adventures that lies to the children of 1990 about how much the cosmetics industry relies on whales, in addition to being incompetently made. Plus, Micah learns his lesson from White Snake and Green Snake by trying to figure out if Nezha Reborn is a sequel to Nezha or not, while the end of Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles prompts Matsy to muse on disappointing actual villain reveals. Mega-download our podcasticus!

Episode 61 - S.W.A.T. Kats: The Radical Podcast
Saturday May 28, 2022
Saturday May 28, 2022
It's just what the title says this time. We're watching four episodes of S.W.A.T. Kats: The Radical Squadron, to see how it holds up all these years later, or even to see what it is. We'll see a villain fixated on the past fixate on his book. We'll see a villain fixated on blowing up Megakat City, and learn about the S.W.A.T. Kats past in the process. We'll see that same villain fixated on the past control mummies with laser guns, and meet the world's most courageous robot. And we'll see that same villain fixated on blowing up Megakat City try to blow up Megakat City again, but this time it's a different same villain and a different Megakat City, and even different S.W.A.T. Kats! Plus, Matsy checks out the future of Usagi Yojimbo in Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, while Micah adds new character and stages to Animation Cel-ery Slammers! Bingo!
